The disappearance of a North Fairfield teen last seen June 6 has taken a troubling turn.

Norwalk police arrested the boyfriend of 17-year-old Abbi Obermiller this week and charged him with obstructing official business.

Police Chief Dave Light said when questioned, Robert J. "Bobby" Young, 20, denied having contact with her, but police have records of text messages between the two of them when she first disappeared.

Young, of the 400 block of Exchange Road in New London, posted bond for the second-degree misdemeanor charge through Norwalk Municipal Court and was released.

On Monday he agreed to take a polygraph test but backed out after consulting with an attorney, Light said.

"We're trying to rule out foul play, and at this point we can't," he said.

Phone records show no recent activity from Abbi's phone and very little since her grandparents first reported her missing from their house in Norwalk.

Detectives can place her there until about 1 a.m., and she placed a call to her boyfriend about an hour before she was reported missing at 5:54 a.m. June 7.

Huron County Sheriff's officials have interviewed people in the Greenwich and North Fairfield areas but found no new leads.

Abbi's information has been entered into several databases, including the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System and Ohio's Missing Children Clearinghouse. Police said she doesn't meet the criteria for an Amber Alert because it doesn't appear she's been abducted, and they cannot say with certainty that she didn't run away.

Meanwhile, Abbi's family and friends are growing increasingly worried.

"It's not like her to do this," her father Jim Obermiller said Tuesday. "Not calling ... I'm not understanding that. At least call and let us know she's safe."

Abbi, the youngest of seven children, just finished her junior year at South Central High School in Greenwich. Her family said she is a straight-A student who dreams of becoming an oncologist.

She's tall and slender, about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts should contact Norwalk police at 419-663-6780.

excellant post Goofus, Most people, including many Marines do not know the history of WHY the Marines was even started, it was because of the Barnaby war!!  The Muslims took our navy ships & cargo and put our Sailors into SLAVERY and made them subject to their rule, then they sold them back to the US. But that ended when our president (unlike Bush and current) had the nerve and conscience to say "ENOUGH" and formed the Marines and sent them over to kick but!  Like usual, the cowards who murder and run seeing they were in trouble made peace and gave back our ships, cargo and sailors.
