Blotter Item of the Day: July 31, 2011

Local police respond every day to heated and unusual situations. The following is one item pulled from the daily police blotter. SANDUSKY POLICE FRIDAY, JULY 29 11:02 p.m. -- 4000 block Venice Road, woman complained her mother smoked in the house, let the cats out and fed the neighbor's pets. Mother said she would follow the rules until she moved out in a week.

This is nice and all but how about some news about all the police activity at Big O's, Market Street and the Firelands ER being SHUT DOWN due to shots fired and three stabbing victims, as well as Sandusky Police's honorable job of finding and chasing down a group of 20 individuals in 2 van chases. Surely this is something The Register would not ignore now is it?

Maybe the SR should bring back the message boards. That way the citizens of this town can report what is really happening in this town.

Why isn't the real news being reported? Informing the public as to where violence is occuring would be the responsibility of the paper, right?.

Maybe the SR is giving us a chance to air the real news, here on the "blotter item of the day"?

Since Jason left the mail bag has went right down the crapper. I asked how xome the Farmers Market downtown has became a flea market and nothing. Guess they have to be nice to the SMSA.

Come on Folks,after all this is the SR, the number one paper in the State of Ohio with cities of a population between 25, 410 and 25,420. It's not the incorrect reporting, it's the lack of interesting articles that is lacking. One sided views and one sided political views. If I were editor I'd have a Libertarian, a Democrat, and a Republican for political stories. This paper has coninued the downward slide faster than our economy and local politics.

I'd venture to say the lack of reporting the nightly violence here is due to the fear of hurting our area's tourism industry.

The shots were fired on Tyler Street. If anyone wants REAL crime updates I suggest you join that Blockwatch 44870 Facebook page. They are trying to get the word out. As for the shots fired it was reported on Tyler Street a few minutes before 3 stabbing victims hit the ER. They literally closed the ER. The scanner said it was on lockdown. That is not enough to warrant a headline but street dancers are? Tourism is this important? I guess they will take note when a tourist is shot or stabbed. Until then who cares about us, the people who put money into this zip code on a daily basis. I suggest everyone listen to the scanner. Do a search for Sandusky Police Scanner you will find an online one. The calls every night are horrifying and it is amazing what does not get reported. Last night was scary, and I am from New York City, hung around Brooklyn and the Bronx all my life and I have never seen crime so out of control and so under reported as I do here. Maybe it is time the police (who handled last night to perfection and should be commended here) stop cruisng Perkins Ave for suspended licences and start taking a pro-active role in stopping this crime.

come on SR you removed it cuz i said your paper and website SUX..there was absolutly NO bad language in it at all..
