UPDATED 4:10 p.m.: Area police and deputies are investigating a bank robbery at the US Bank branch at 1028 Cleveland Road in Sandusky.

The suspect was described as a white man wearing a dark, hooded jacket and light-colored jeans. Police said the man took off the hooded sweatshirt immediately after the robbery and left it at the scene.

He is believed to have fled on foot across Cleveland Road through the Rodeway Inn parking lot. Shortly after the incident, officers received a report of the suspect possibly in the area of Neil and Perry streets. A search with a police dog turned up nothing.

The suspect did not display a weapon — he passed a note to a bank teller. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Sandusky police have provided a photo of the suspect, which is posted along with this story. Bank surveillance video recorded the incident.

margaritaville88- The story wasn't online as not every story that is in the paper makes it online.

I'm posting it here with the hope you buy a Saturday paper tomorrow to read about this robbery story. There will be more stories in tomorrow's paper that most likely won't make it here on the website, unless you are an ePaper subscriber.

From staff reports
The owner of Sandusky Speedway pleaded no contest this week to a felony theft charge in Erie County Common Pleas Court.
Kevin Jaycox, 46, was charged earlier this month with a single count of theft, following an investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Jaycox raised money for a charitable nonprofit in the Cleveland area, the Stephen C. Parish Jr. Memorial Fund, but he never actually gave the money to the organization, Erie County prosecutor Kevin Baxter said.
According to court records, Jaycox failed to give the nonprofit about $8,800 that had been collected from Jan. 1, 2011, to Oct. 2, 2011.
The Attorney General’s office investigated the case because it involved a charitable organization. Jaycox raised the money through a 50/50 raffle.
“He never turned over the proceeds,” Baxter said.
When reached by phone earlier this week, Jaycox declined to comment and deferred all questions to his attorney. Multiple attempts to reach his attorney were unsuccessful, as the attorney did not pick up the phone, and there was no way to leave a message at the provided number.
The Stephen Parish Memorial Fund was created by Stephen’s mother following his death at age 23 in 2009. His mother is the one who reported the theft to authorities, Baxter said.
Jaycox initially pleaded not guilty this week, but he later pleaded no contest. It’s not an admission of guilt, but it does acknowledge the veracity of the facts involving the case.
If Jaycox pays back the money within the next few weeks or so, he’ll get diversion. The “no contest” plea and the agreement for diversion were the most effective way to get the money back to the charity fund quickly, Baxter said.

Thanks for the explanation Jason.

yup. fo sure!

How stupid is this robber, robbing in the daylight and cameras all over the place. Left his shirt behind and where are the dogs that they couldn't pick up the scent?

Clark W. Griswald

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a dog can track someone if they walk to a car and drive away...

I bet if someone robbed a donut stand they would have been caught by now LMAO

Clark W. Griswald

A donut stand?

Law enforcement has done a good job tracking down suspects recently. The shooting at the car wash as well as the most recent shooting investigation led the police to persons of interest and arrests. This guy will be caught quickly and prosecuted easily.

A donut stand? What are ya 12? We get it you don't like cops.....but at least make up a joke that's funny...

best time to break the law is in broad daylight. takes everyone by surprise. I'm sure though that someone knows who this guy is and he will be caught soon. sandusky, that is funny!

The best PLACE to commit a robbery is OTTAWA County.

Even if the cops catch you red handed the prosecutor doesn't have the guts to prosecute.

they also don't prosecute judge's granddaughters or other connected persons.

In Ottawa County, if your restaurant is in debt, you can light it on fire, get charged with arson, then walk away Scott free.

Or you can apparently, steal money from an old lady to start up a jewelry store and bilk her out of $200,000.

Ottawa County should be ashamed of that prosecutors record. I know all the LE are.

You forgot to mention the sheriff who used public funds for personal use.

"Former Ottawa County Sheriff Bob Bratton misused about $10,000 in taxpayer money, purchasing items like shoes, neckties, belts, cigars, Cedar Point passes and prescription medications, a state audit found."

Ned Mandingo

Is that Adam Leemaster?

Didn't do it

Like they don't know who he is daaaaaa

They say he was caught. Bought the bar a round of drinks~was recognized and they got him LOL

Fingerprints on the counter? Was he serious? They caught him. It's almost like he did it just for that.

Three free and a cot, perhaps?

Was this the guy that got beat up for stealing a woman's purse behind Daly's a while ago?

It does seem he did this just to see how long it would take to get caught. Stupid is as stupid does!

I can't believe none of the "usual suspects" have posted his rap sheet yet!
