An American white pelican swims in the cove near the Sandusky boat houses on Saturday, November 5, 2012.
According to the ODNR Division of Wildlife website, the western species is increasing in numbers in Ohio. A rare sighting of the bird can happen anywhere in Ohio, but they are more likely to be found in the western basin of Lake Erie.

They are great pictures
What cove by the Sandusky boat houses?
In picture 11, I see the Mean Streak roller coaster in the background. The coaster is on the north of Cedar Point.
So where exactly was the picture taken?
The photo with Mean Streak in the background is taken from the eastern-most portion of the cove, east of Parker Drive and north of Cove Park Blvd. I tried to get more of the Cedar Point skyline in the background, but the pelican wasn't cooperating.
Thanks for looking.
Great pics!
I just hate to see that poor black and white kitty down by the cove~won't last long there~cat killer in that area~
Many cats have been lowered into that water in the cove area~so sad : (
Who's killing cats in the cove area? Call him out publically so people know who it is.
Awesome pics.
BEHAPPY has called out the alleged cat killer publicly. She just can't substantiate her claims with proof.
catch and release then take them to behappy maybe she has guts enouugh to tell us her/his name
Has reported w/ name. Proof? I was told by the person himself and others~
JERRY~BEHAPPY has already been helpful in solution to try to curb this problem ~humanly~~what have you done~never mind~I already know~and you will pay sooner or later. Have a nice day and don't "hate" forever.
Great looking pictures. A+
