Local police respond every day to heated and unusual situations. The following is one item pulled from the daily police blotter. ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF SUNDAY, JAN. 1 10:02 p.m. -- 1500 block Ohio 60, Vermilion, woman got ride home, left Chevrolet Blazer in parking lot. Blazer was gone when she came back, but similar vehicle sat in parking lot; woman's key worked in door and ignition. Deputies found owner at hotel nearby. The two women exchanged vehicles; owner apologized for inconvenience.

This is funny as heck and brought back something from my past.

My cousin lived in Kettering few years ago and we were going on a trip together. So the day we packed up the rental car to leave her Ford Ranger was blocking my Crown Vic in the drive.

She laughed and said sure go ahead and move it knowing I didn't have her keys. Curiously I tried my Crown Vic keys in her Ranger and they worked. I moved it and my car. I went back inside and said neither one were in the lot... should have seen her freak out... LOL

The vehicles were about built about 9 years apart. It shows there are only so many key combinations available.
