Sarah Ellen Peacock Cook, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

She was born March 24, 1915, in Bellevue to George and Sadie (Hartzell) Peacock. She resided in Cleveland for most of her childhood before returning to Bellevue, where she was member of the York Township Class of 1933. On Dec. 11, 1932, she married Clifton Cook, her husband of 79 years.

Sarah will be especially remembered for quick wit, unsurpassable and timeless elegance, and the unwavering love she shared with her family. She was a talented cook, well known for her legendary molasses, sugar, and potato chip cookies. An avid knitter, she created many heirlooms for the family to treasure. Sarah also greatly enjoyed traveling, especially to her family's cottage in Canada. A lover of nature, she took care of many animals that found their way to her doorstep.

Sarah was an active member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall of Bellevue.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Clifton Cook; children, Joanna (Harlan) Frederick, Barbara (Fred) Townsend and Robert Cook, all of Bellevue; and Cynthia (Robert) Enderle of Fort Wayne, Ind. Nicknamed "Mudder" by her grandchildren, her memory will also be cherished by six grandchildren, including Diane Buckner, Guy Frederick, and Dean Frederick from the Bellevue area; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Peacock II.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, until the 2 p.m. service at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Interment will follow.
