Alana L. LaBine, 73, of Port Clinton, died Saturday evening, Jan. 14, 2012, in her residence. She was born July 14, 1938, in Catawba Island to Lloyd V. and Lucille (Dress) Simon.

She married Joseph LaBine, the father of her six children. Alana worked at Travelers Inn for 15 years and later the Swans Dry Cleaners for 17 years before retiring. She also helped out at the Danbury Senior Citizens Center for four years.

Alana was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Port Clinton. She was a member of the Aid Association for Lutherans and the Women of Peace Lutheran Church, and she taught Sunday School for more than 25 years. Alana was a former member of the Ottawa County Association for Retarded Children and was a past secretary of the Board of MRDD and member of the Parents Club of MRDD, both during the early 1970s. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took care of her family, especially her daughter JoAnn.

Alana's survivors include her children, Thomas (Judy) LaBine of Delta, Ohio, JoAnn LaBine of Williston, Ohio, and Becky (Mike) Zoeller and Bonnie (Todd) Marsh, both of Port Clinton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Troy and Tommy LaBine, and Ashley and Alysia Zoeller; one great-grandson; sisters, Grace (Curtis) VanHoose and Jackie (Harold) Ames, also of Port Clinton.

Alana was preceded in death by her husband; parents; long time companion, William Sumpter; son, Troy Donald LaBine; daughter, Lucy Gail LaBine; grandson, Brian Lane; brother, Robert Simon; and sisters, Shirley Genzel, Marian Wilkins and Audrey Cornell.

Visitation for Alana will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, until the service at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson St., Port Clinton. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.

The family has suggested memorials in Alana's name be directed to Peace Lutheran Church or the Luther Home of Mercy, P.O. Box 187, Williston, OH 43468.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St. Port Clinton.
