UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Castalia stable rescues neglected horses
May 24
2011
Paco, a 15-year-old pony, is one of several horses rescued by Kandi-Land Stables Equine Rescue, a Castalia-based nonprofit that nurses neglected horses back to health for adoption or lease.
The horses come to Hillenbrand with a variety of problems -- mouth infections, lice, bad hoofs and more -- and they're usually suffering from malnutrition.
Kandi-Land currently houses 15 fully recovered horses, eleven of which are still available to adopt.
The nonprofit relies heavily on donations.
Donations can be mailed to:

Mr. and Mrs. Hillenbrand are awesome people. Their daughter and son in law are also high class. This story doesn't surprise me in the least.

Good story Sandusky Register! I am glad Linda is doing this. I am hoping these horses will be adopted by RESPONSIBLE people and care for them. Here we have a success story about a non-profit that relies on donations. Thank you Linda Hillenbrand for your dedication and desire to care for animals abused by other people. How about donating to this great and worthy cause? It takes an exceptional individual to place their cause in the caring for animals above anything else. It requres a lot of work and expense just to board and care for ONE horse let alone FIFTEEN. I am sure Linda could use some additional support to help her continue in rescuing neglected horses.

What a nice change from the usual bad news! Keep up the good work! It's people like you who make a real difference in the world. I hope you find good homes for your remaining horses.
