Margery Elizabeth (Conkle) Lindecamp, 94, of Milan, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.
She was born May 21, 1917, in Columbus to William Everet and Irma (Dodge) Conkle, and her parents moved to Medina, Ohio, when she was 2 months old. Margery graduated from Medina High School in 1935 and Kent State University in 1939.
She began teaching business education at Lodi High School in 1939, and it was there that she met her future husband, Charles J. Lindecamp, who was also a teacher at Lodi High School. They were married Sept. 5, 1943.
Margery moved to Milan in 1946, when her husband was employed as a teacher at Milan High School. After 10 years and two children, she returned to teaching at Milan High School, and later at Edison High School for another 22 years. She was an active member of the Milan Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women's Association, the Milan Research Club, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and was a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles J. Lindecamp; one son, Charles W. (Shelly) Lindecamp of Milan; daughter, Louise (Douglas) Weiss of Los Alamos, N.M.; grandson, Douglas (Holly) Weiss, of Los Alamos, N.M.; granddaughter, Heather Lindecamp, of Dublin, Ohio, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Conkle and Robert Conkle; granddaughter, Lori Lindecamp; and an aunt, Mira Horsburg.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at the Milan Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Church St. The Rev. Donald Loving will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lori Lindecamp Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship Fund awarded at Edison High School.
