Asian carp crisis bill introduced

Lawmakers in both the House and the Senate have introduced a new bill in Congress, "The Permanent Prevention of Asian Carp Act of 2010," that puts the Army Corps of Engineers on a tight deadline to construct a permanent barrier in Chicago to keep the Asian carp out of the Great Lakes.

Even as local conservationists fight to prevent soil from washing into creeks that drain into Lake Erie, the Army Corps of Engineers has been dumping hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of lake sediment into the lake’s western basin.
