When will the dates be planted near the clock in Washington Park?

When will the workers start planting the date back by the clock? Manny in Sandusky

Sandusky Greenhouse manager Tom Speir provided the following response: 

We begin placing the date on the clock in the middle of May because the plants that make up the display are not hardy. To safely plant non hardy species of plants, the rule of thumb is to wait until frost free date which is on or around Mother's Day.  Of course, you can make a decision to plant a littler earlier depending on the weather forecast for that week in May.
