What's going on with commissioner Keith Grohe?

Where has Sandusky city commissioner Keith Grohe been? Will he be removed from his elected position since he hasn't attended any meetings recently? John in Sandusky

Sandusky city commissioner Keith Grohe has been sidelined for almost three months because of ongoing health problems.

He's not at risk of losing his seat, according to Sandusky law director Don Icsman.

At the beginning of each meeting, commissioners have excused Grohe for legitiatemly missing the meetings.

City commissioners could lose their seats if they miss:

• Three meetings in a row without being excused by other commissioners.

• 50 percent of meetings in a 90-day period without being excused by other commissioners.

As long as Grohe is excused, he gets to keep his seat. We are missing one commissioner which is the seventh commissioner for a swing vote if anything should come up that needs a tie breaker vote. It is why we have an uneven amount of commissioners, to swing vote either way.

Here's to hopping Commissioner Grohe gets well soon and backs it make to the commission table. I find him to be a common sense type person with an open ear to issues.
