Is the Register going to change the online commenting policy?

There are still too many uncivil and disrespectful comments being posted. Is the Register going to do anything about this? Bob in Perkins Township

We answered this question numerous times in the past, but it's worth being brought up again.

Register multimedia and digital content editor Jason Werling provided the following answer:

The Sandusky Register is in the process of revamping our online presence including our commenting section at sanduskyregister.com. We are looking to improve our community experience at the website by eliminating anonymous commenting but still give our readers the ability to give their 2 cents in the content we provide.

Feel free to comment below on what changes you would like to see as far as comments or any other online feature.

The Mailbag is a daily feature on sanduskyregister.com. Each weekday at noon, we will post one question from a reader and answer it. To ask a question, send a letter to The Mailbag at 314 W. Market St., or email mailbag@sanduskyregister.com. Please include your first name and a location in the email, e.g. “John from Decatur Street."

I never knew that! RIP!

I saw wiredmama a few weeks ago. I recognized her from when she was on Between the Lines with Matt Westerhold. I was going to say something to her --- maybe ask her why she wasn't commenting anymore, but I decided not to.

@Julie....you should have talked to her....she would have loved it. She has been very ill and would have loved it. They are moving soon and she would have appreciated the saying "hi". I am here to help them move and am staying with them. She is a great lady and very smart!!!!!

Julie R.

I always enjoyed wiredmama's comments and I was disappointed when she stopped commenting. We didn't always agree but I always respected her point of view; in fact, a few times her comments changed MY point of view and believe me that doesn't happen very often. If I ever see her out and about again, I will talk to her. In the meantime, tell her I wish her well and I'll pray for her recovery.

@ deertracker....she got bounced off her for diasgreeing with Westerhold. She is my sister in law I know she like YOU and many others on here. I hear your name mentioned and others. It broke her heart to get banned from here. He can't take being diagreed with. It was one of the few things she had being home all the time. Poor judgement on his part I would say...she had a heart attack right afterward. Did any of you know that??

deertracker

I didn't. I enjoyed reading her comments as they were usually sensible and thoughtful. I am glad she is alive and getting on with her life. I find it odd that she would get banned even after appearing on BTL. Please give her my best!

BabyMomma

Boy I look like an a$$ right now don't I tracker?!?! I feel bad now.

@slightthroat.

I'm surprised you and Wiredmayhem get along. You want City Manager Ard gone--Wired thinks Ard is the next best thing to sliced bread.

LabMan

mikeylikesit

i really do. there are others from here and the reflector site too. cjbell019, slim white, huronguy, but taxpayer was my true inspiration.

Ralph J.

I miss taxpayer also. He was a true comic. My guess is that the Democrappers and Unions hated his wit.

John Harville

...and there goes the namecalling again.

mikeylikesit

it's only name calling if the shoe fits..

Ralph J.

Please explain John. You lost me

mikeylikesit

you're not allowed to pick on democrats. thats racist. it's also disrespectful of the dead, seeing as how so many democrat voters are dead..

Ralph J.

Does that include the zombies who go out to vote?

mikeylikesit

dead, zombies, illegal aliens..

The Big Dog's back

Ahhhh democrappers. I haven't said right wing... at all today.

Ralph J.

How much is that doggy in the window. Arf Arf.

LabMan

I liked him as well and agreed with his thought pattern a lot.

Julie R.

I miss Taxpayer, too. I miss Centauri even more. I even miss the sarcastic attacks I used to get from Bryan DuBois about "tin-foil hats" when he was posting under his real name ...... but then again I think he's now posting under another name so it's all good. (chuckle-chuckle)

DGMutley

Hey, I miss Taxpayer. For all the controversy he caused he should have been on the payroll.

Rosa

People say what they are really thinking if they are anonymous. It's good to hear! You know the saying "The truth will set you free!!"

Actually I commented on a story on Facebook the other day. With my REAL name. It was story from a news channel. I made a comment without looking at the name. Come to find out it was someone my husband used to work with. She thought "name dropping" and hinting she knew my husband would change my opinion or comment. It didn't. I continued with my line of thinking and my opinion of her comment. So I started with a comment not knowing who the person was, and continued with the same train of thought even after she "knew" my family/husband. Anyone who does know me, knows I will tell you exactly how it is.

BabyMomma

So you're a b!tch....NBD

ladydye_5

If that is what you want to call me go ahead. You are in good company. The fact is I do NOT hide behind my name. I will also tell you I am NOT offended by the fact you call me that. LOL. I stand proud.

BabyMomma

I can tell that by your comments. I wasn't trying to offend, most of my favorite women are b!tches. I'm a prick so it works.

Peninsula Pundit

'BabyMomma,' but you're a prick?
Is your pill container marked 'Monday' still full?
Or are you representing for the LGBT community?
