What's going on with the Ohio Sports Hall of Fame Museum?

I'm curious if you have any new information on the Ohio Sports Hall of Fame Museum on U.S. 6 by Ohio 2. The building has been there for a couple years now but it seems the site still remains dormant. What's going on? Nicole from Sandusky

LaMont "Showboat" Robinson said they are still working on finding funding for the project.

He said they have located a potential funding source for $15 million and are in talks with a company from Virginia. Robinson also plans on approaching Dan Gilbert, who owns the Cleveland Cavaliers, to bring him in as an investor and for naming rights.

Robinson envisions the complex fulfilling two purposes:

• A hall of fame honoring those making a name for themselves playing on Ohio sport teams.

• A sporting complex where teams can compete in contests, such as basketball.

Epic Fail of an idea

Licorice Schtick

So far, just a joke. Hope it's not a scam.

why would anyone who didn't have the money already in hand go out of their way to advertise such a thing? "Hoping" doesn't do it. "Wishing" doesn't do it either. This person may have great dreams, but is short sighted on actual doing....and it sure shows. Its borderline embarassing right now.

Who cares? WAY MORE than enough money is dished out for sports so there should be NO PROBLEM getting funding if it is going to happen at all. Get the ball get the ball...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Naming rights for a hall of fame?

bayshore

So the link provided is to a previous post from March 2012, and that story has a link to Lamont's (and I can't get the image of Lamont Sanford out of my head) website... which no longer exists.
Infer from that what you will.

No money to buy into a such a project.

Epic Fail is an understatement. "Plans on approaching Dan Gilbert"? Well, I plan on winning a Powerball jackpot, too. Dan Gilbert isn't going to invest in anything that won't return a profit.

There's a reason that Mr. Robinson's nickname is "Showboat". This is nothing but a massive grandstand, look-at-me show by a textbook narcissist.

"For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it — lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?" - Luke 14:28-30

He approaced the City for money. Got zip, ask foundations, got zip, got 1mm local loan, prob spent $$ on wine, women and song. He is putting in very little of his own money, if any. Claimed to know Michael Jordon and he was in, no $$ again, LMAO

When developers come to the city, do not look for the taxpayer to front your projectby using our lawyers, staff of resources, etc.!!! All we have to offer is TIF's, tax abatement and revolving loans and the rest is up to you. We can help you with a little bit of zoning also but that is all you get. The city is not a bank where everyone can come and take a withdrawal.
