Is there a new building going up on the west side?
For years,there was an abandoned car wash situated at the southwest corner of the intersection of Venice Road and Tiffin Avenue. About a month ago, the old car wash building, which had held up pretty well over the years, was stripped away. Crews appeared to be recyling the building material as workers dismantled the building.
The Register's business reporter, Melissa Topey, has been working to track down an answer to what, if anything, the property owner intends to build. She has left several messages for the city's chief planner, Carrie Handy, seeking information, but Handy has not returned the calls. Generally, if a property owner intends to build or make major structural changes to a property, they are required to submit plans to the city. Topey intends to obtain that information from the city, or visit the site, and will be reporting what she learns shortly.

Heard through the grapevine it was going to be the new location for the Dollar General and the plaza where it is currently located was going to be torn down to make way for condos.
Maybe CVS will relocate on that corner with a pharmacy drive thru?

No answer from the City. Now I am surprised.
I doubt anyone would build condo's in the plaza with heavy train traffic and noise in your back yard.
I was just wondering about that. The floor plan looks smaller than the current Dollar General. Also, who in their right mind would put condos near that slum park next door?? That should be torn down like W Monroe St. Maybe it will be another metro Hi-rise ??
I think a liquor store would be a great option for the old Pat Catans plaza.
I know Dicks is nearby, but alas they don't call it "Dicks" because the staff is friendly and the debit card policy is reasonable.
They need sidewalks down Tiffin ave. in that area, if they put in any business there. There are walkers and bicycles ,dog walkers on Tiffin Ave. south of Venice Rd. forced to walk on the berm. Many people walk this area, so as the new overpass goes in so should sidewalks.
I am like you what a lousy place to build condos. I hope whoever is building does not have a loan from some Sandusky government funds of some kind. It will be another loser of money.
