What's happening with the old theater building?

Are there any plans for the old movie theater building?

I contacted Joe Bell, a spokesman for the Cafaro company, which owns the property. He said the old Carmike movie theater building (next to the new Cinemark theater) is currently being used for temporary storage. He said the building is being marketed for a new tenant. While it's set up as a theater now, the space can be renovated to fit a variety of businesses, from retail to restaurants to some sort of entertainment or tourism facility. Bell said he'll let me know when a new business leases the space.

They should play older movies there and use it as a $1 theater

What a great idea. I miss so many movies when they are first out and by the time I get around to seeing them, they are gone. I hate renting one and watching it by myself.

I like the dollar movie idea. Companies make money off the concession sales anyway; not ticket sales.

Dollar movies good idea.
