Rye Beach Road rail crossing in the City of Huron will be closed June 3 through June 18 to accomodate repair work conducted by Norfolk and Southern, according to a news release from City Hall.

HURON A call about a bomb turned into a crapshoot for the Lorain County Bomb Squad. Officers found a fizzing homemade bomb planted in a portable toilet near a construction site at Turtle Bay and decided the safest way to detonate it was to shoot at it.

A Huron man allegedly part of the Michigan-based Hutaree that officials say plotted to kill police officers was released Tuesday. District Judge Victoria Roberts ordered Jacob Ward to be released to his mother, Nadine Bober, after being held in jail since March 27. He'll continue to be electronically monitored with an ankle bracelet.

Eugene D. Noftz, 87, of Huron died Thursday afternoon, May 13, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
