A Huron boater battling the wind while docking at the Huron Boat Basin ended up colliding with a Huron fire boat, a police report said. The man told police the wind pushed his boat near the basin, but he didn't notice his boat strike the fire boat. Huron fire officials found damage on the fire boat, which was gouged in two places with fiberglass torn away.

Huron firefighters were called to a boat fire in the Huron River on Wednesday afternoon and found light smoke upon arrival. The Sea Ray was towed to the Huron boat ramp and inspected. No one was hurt in the fire.

Typically, a bus driver's observational skill has been the best way to catch motorists who pass stopped school buses. Now, however, Huron Schools bus drivers have an extra set of digital eyes backing them up. The district recently installed external cameras on 14 buses, including the 10 it uses for daily routes.
