Two employees from Huron Dairy Queen picketed outside the restaurant Tuesday afternoon after owners fired a longtime employee.

Protestor Brandy Melching, 21, said she and Stephanie Grasl, 18, picketed at Huron Dairy Queen because they believed Melching's grandmother, Sharon LaLond, 61, was wrongfully terminated from her job as a store manager.

LaLond had been on medical leave for seven weeks and recently returned to work, only to be fired from her job for what store co-owner Carlo Martello chalked up to performance issues. LaLond said she's been a dedicated employee for 16 years and the termination was a "shock."
