Fire singes flag at business

2010
An apparent electrical malfunction sparked flames at the top of a silo at Erie Blacktop on Portland Road, charring an American flag.
The flames shot up at least 15 feet from one of the silos that stores finished blacktop. Workers were just finishing up for the day when it happened, but no one was atop the silo at the time, company president Dean Wikel said.
Groton Township firefighters responded to check the area but left after they determined the fire had snuffed out.

The local Scout Troop in Castalia/Margaretta will dispose of it correctly. I am sure someone at Erie knows who to contact to have this completed

It is a 42" (2) rail guard rail...though that one looks a little bent. there is a stair behind him too.
I agree, get the flag down. That should have been priorty one once the fire was out and everything was determined safe.

Take down the flag and dispose of it properly.... It's a disgrace to leave it there....

What I remember from my safety training is that a railing is adequate fall protection. That railing appears to be as high as his neck so it looks safe to me.
