Danbury Lakers varsity football team had their first home scrimmage on Friday against South Central. Head coach Bryan Dudash says, "our team is pretty solid, our number is down being we only have 19 team members. One member is out injured, so it takes us to 18. They are the toughest and those that aren't on the team can't handle it."
"We competed against a big and physical team today, and our team did pretty good, they gave it all they had, all we have to do is make sure they stay healthy," he said.
Dudash also has coach Rocky Farlow assisting this year. Farlow was a coach at Perkins and took them to state championship in 1999. Danbury's first game will be the 29th of August against Open Door Christian School from Elyria at the Laker's Field.
