The Thomas Temple Church of God in Christ on West Monroe Street celebrated the 29th annual Women's Day on Sunday, with a huge spread of food before a 5 p.m. service that was themed "Rise up women and praise God, for he has delivered thee." The church, which has sister churches in Toledo, Detroit and Marion, Ind., started Women's Day in 1986 with the late Mother Shirley Richard and her husband, Bishop Frank Richard.
The Sandusky church has services every other Sunday at 5 p.m. and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The sermons are also broadcast on WGGN Channel 52. Check your local listings. The church is led by the Rev. Susan Coleman.
