Watching the video I ask myself a couple of questions...
1 - Why didn't the lazy bum come out of the house to see why the dog was barking, there was ample of time, yet he didn't go out until AFTER it was shot.

2 - Did anyone see the bus drive by in the background? What would have happened if the bus dropped off a few kids before the police got there and the dog injured a child?

3 - Why don't the owners feel they are to blame when it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure THEIR pet is secured?

@ Speakezy, What would have happened if the bullet ricochet of the concrete and hit one those kids on the bus?

No need to worry Kat, it never would have happened. IF the bullet did ricochet, the cop would have shot another bullet at the ricocheting bullet. As the two bullets collided, he would have fired a third shot that would direct the first 2 towards the dog. The officer would then fire a fourth shot as the third bullet descended. Upon impact, the third and fourth bullets would then change trajectory and hit the dog as well. Trust me, it's possible. I've seen that Bugs Bunny episode fifty times.

Okay, so where's the fashion police for this rally? Seriously, some of the protesters should go to jail for what they're wearing in public. Sweat pants and boots? Seriously? I feel for the dog and don't condone cops or anyone else shooting them but the dog should not have been loose. I keep my dog in the house and when she is outside she is on a chain or a leash. She seems threatening to others but is actually fearful of most people. I would not let her run loose not just for other people's safety, but also for her own.

Oh, sweet puppies, nobody will shoot YOU because YOUR owner cares enough about you to have you licensed & leashed so that you aren't out menacing innocent people.

I am a huge dog lover, the bigger they are the better, mine are big Teddy Bears, but they never allowed outside unless leashed and they are licensed, they have been trained not to bark or show aggressive behavior, that being said. How many of these same people showed support for Officer Dunn or any of our recent homicide victims? In April of last year this same lady was found guilty of dog at large, she was given court costs only, clearly Judge O'Brien didn't take it seriously maybe if he had the dog would not have been loose again.

So whats the protest for? Dont charge me because I didnt abide by the law? I really loved a dog that most people think will bite them and let him outside unattended and he got shot so everyone feel sorry for me? Cops should wait to be attacked by large animals before protecting themselves and the public? Nice gethering of people but Whats the point people? GEESH!

C'mon!!! This is such a joke! First, pay for some damn tags like the rest of us responsible citizens do. Second, keep track of your dog, who is obviously very protective and very strong, like the rest of us responsible citizens do. Third, when a policeman shows up at your home and addresses you by first name (and I'm guessing it's not b/c he knows you from church)I'm guessing you're not really a responsible citizen like the rest of us. Grow up, take responsibility for your part in this incident and learn something...don't just blame the rest of us responsible citizens, including the SPD. All of us, the police, mail carriers, maybe your neighbors who may have a small child that wants to ride their bike on the sidewalk...only want what's safe and responsible! Grow up!!!

D. Hansen has proven record regarding her cur. Thanks for proving aforementioned discourse. Combat Marines use nano second logic in life or death matters. Attitudes like yours get people dead. Boot Camp eliminates people with weak attitudes. Maybe the airforce would use you, though in what fashion is un-clear.

That's nothing compared to my Old Navy stories. Black Friday, 2009..... I'm sorry. I'm not ready to talk about it yet. If you weren't there, you'd never understand.

It was like something out of Apocalypse Now. Charlie don't surf but we forgot he wears flip flops.

Lucy is the victem here, no tags, no license, no responsible person checking on her, a police officer not willing to call the dog warden and wait in his cruiser , possible [not probable] danger to people out and about in the area. Many people are afraid of dogs. How old was she[the dog] again? Sad ,its over, we can all learn from this.

Wed, 02/27/2013 - 2:08pm

What's a victem?

Looks like a bunch of bums protesting a job opening.
