FIRST PLACE: Toft’s Ice Cream Parlor

Where: 3717 Venice Rd., Sandusky

1.)    What do you think made you a finalist in the Readers’ Choice Awards?

Most people say that we have the best ice cream and we have great customer service to go along with it.

2.)    What’s one unique thing about your business (a specific menu item, a special service) that people would be surprised to know you offer?

Probably the biggest thing is not only the quality but the size of the portions that we give.

3.)    What’s your favorite thing about the Northcoast Ohio area?

Just getting to meet a lot of nice tourists around the area.

4.)    Besides your own business, what’s your favorite thing to do/place to go in the area?

Probably just boating on the lake.

5.)    Do you have anything in particular you’d like to tell the Funcoast.com readers?

Thank you everyone for voting for us.

SECOND PLACE: Cold Stone Creamery

Where: 4912 Milan Rd., Sandusky

Hours: 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. daily

Info: 419-625-0202

Owner/Manager: Connie Ruby

1.)    What do you think made you a finalist in the Readers’ Choice Awards?

I believe it’s our customer service.

2.)    What’s one unique thing about your business (a specific menu item, a special service) that people would be surprised to know you offer?

We make all of our ice cream and ice cream cakes right inside our store. Nothing comes from a factory.

3.)    What’s your favorite thing about the Northcoast Ohio area?

I would say it’s the small town feel. The people are friendly and loyal, and you get to know your customers.

4.)    Besides your own business, what’s your favorite thing to do/place to go in the area?

I like to go to all of the local parks, especially the ones along the water. I enjoy seeing all the wildlife and being near the water.

5.)    Do you have anything in particular you’d like to tell the Funcoast.com readers?

I’d like people to know that we don’t compare ourselves to Toft’s. We are a completely different ice cream experience, and people should come in and check us out. Everything is made fresh, it’s very unique and there’s no one else like us.

THIRD PLACE: Cobbs Drive-In

Where: 631 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct.-May, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. in the summer

Info: 419-625-0202

Manager/Owner: Steve and Michelle Bacni

1.)    What do you think made you a finalist in the Readers’ Choice Awards?

Our loyal customers.

2.)    What’s one unique thing about your business (a specific menu item, a special service) that people would be surprised to know you offer?

Our chili dogs. The ice cream is a given, but we make our own chili and sloppy joes, too.

3.)    What’s your favorite thing about the Northcoast Ohio area?

Being around Cedar Point. All of the tourists definitely help during the summer.

4.)    Besides your own business, what’s your favorite thing to do/place to go in the area?

Soak City.

5.)    Do you have anything in particular you’d like to tell the Funcoast.com readers?

Thanks for voting!
