Johnny Sauter and the Sandusky-based ThorSport Racing team are running hot as they approach tonight's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Heading into tonight's Ford 200, Sauter and his No. 13 FarmPaint.com/Curb Records Chevrolet Silverado is in prime position to finish in third place in points with a longshot at second. He earned his place on the podium with help from five top-three finishes in the last seven events.
"I don't necessarily attribute us running better as me having more running experience in the truck, or anything like that," he said. "I don't think that's the case. It's just, everything's better, everything's gelling -- communication, our equipment ... Just the whole package is right.
"Every time we go to the race track, even if we don't run good, we learn from something. In racing, it seems you learn a lot of what not to do, versus what to do. If you can apply that week in and week out, you're just going to get better."
Tonight he'll be running the chassis with which he earned his NCWTS victories at Las Vegas in 2009 and Kansas earlier this season.
