Kevin E. Ebner, 59, of Sandusky passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, June 24, 2010, at his home.
Born March 6, 1951, in Sandusky to Harold Edward and Ruth Margaret (Walsh) Ebner, he was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Kevin was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam war. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and sharpshooter (Rifle M-14).
Kevin was a mason for more than 30 years. He lived life to the fullest every day and was proud of his Irish heritage and loved celebrating on St. Patrick's Day and hosting his annual Christmas Eve bash. Kevin loved boating and spending his summers on Lake Erie and the islands. He enjoyed fishing and barbecuing, but especially loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and his many friends.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bricklayer Union Local 46, AMVETS Post 17, VFW Post 2529 and Jimmy's.
Kevin is survived by his best friend and longtime companion, Brenda (Kusser) Martin; son, Erin (Kristen) Ebner; two daughters, Tammy (Brad Santoro) Ebner and Megah (Scott) Alafita; six grandchildren, Curt and Nick Camp, Brittany Hunter, Tony Santoro and Caitlin and Gavin Ebner; and sister, Shelagh (Lew) Byington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth (Walsh) Ebner.
At his request visitation will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard. At his request cremation will take place following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in his name to Veteran Services of Erie County, 247 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
