Jan. 19: Back to the grind today. Did well on the diet with shakes, bar, fruit and balanced dinner. Four swim meets this week so it will be tough to get the workouts in, but we are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday night.

Jan. 12: Tough day. Spent the day cleaning snow from cars and moving cars everywhere - great exercise, but the boss bought Pizza Hut pasta and breadsticks for everyone for lunch - couldn't resist. I only had one breadstick and a couple of spoons of the pasta. It tasted good, but I felt guilty.

Dec. 19 - Received a phone call from reporter Brandi Barhite that I had been selected for FIT Challenge.

Now that March is behind me, I am striving to obtain my goal of losing 100 pounds.

6:27 PM Mar 23, 2010

I have to be honest when I tell you all that I have not lost any weight this month.

I have been overweight since second or third grade. If I sit back and take that journey, I can remember the hurtful names that kids called me. Not only can I remember what they called me, I can remember exactly who was doing the name-calling.

I once said,” I can't do that.” As I spoke those very words, I was told, “Can't means you won't."

I’m happy to say that I weighed in the week of March 1 at 233.6, only 1 1/2 pounds away from being down 20 pounds. I am starting to accept what the scale is reading when I step onto it. My energy level is finally starting to increase.

I did it. I shed the 5.6 pounds I gained in Las Vegas, thank the stars. I was unable to work out Feb. 23, so I weighed myself at work. I weighed in at 236.4 pounds. I am down 16 pounds since Jan. 5.

Vegas was a blast. I absolutely loved it; I didn't love the scale, though. I gained 5.6 pounds. Wow, I guess I shouldn't have eaten that brownie or drank that second strawberry daiquiri, but heck, you only live once and everyone has their weak moments.

This past week was not a good at all. I was not feeling well five out of the seven days. The only day I was feeling well enough to make it to Weigh of Life was Feb. 6. I’m feeling about 80 percent better now, but still not up to par, though.

I would like to start by thanking all of you who are posting positive comments to my blog. I check the blog every day to read the comments. Your thoughtful words help me when I'm having an "all I want to do is eat" day.

I think there should be more hours in the day. This past week was extremely busy and hectic. March 2, I was mandated at work. Mandating is when I have to work up to an additional eight hours on top of the eight hours I already put in for the day.

Recently I've discovered jango.com, a commercial-free radio station online. It's the best.

We are three weeks into the challenge and I am down from 252.4 to 241.6. I myself think that this is very good, considering I'm the type of person who used to think that if you exercised you should automatically lose weight.

6:27 PM Mar 23, 2010

For my blogs, I will be writing from Monday to Sunday. My reason for doing this is that Mondays are my weigh-in days. In my previous blog, I had written I had lost about 4 pounds. When I wrote that blog, I had not been weighed yet. I am happy to let you know that I am down 8 pounds since Jan. 5.

Wow ! I can't believe that it has already been 10 days since I started with Tyra.

A reader called this morning and took exception to how reporter Tom Jackson described the particular sculpture in an art exhibit at BGSU Firelands.

City commissioner Brett Fuqua came out pretty strong against fired police Chief Kim Nuesse after she filed a lawsuit last week in federal court.

Police action at Perkins Schools

After getting a couple of calls last Friday from parents of students in the Perkins school district, we learned that, yes, indeed, there had been a lockdown at Perkins High School and another at Briar Middle School on Thursday.

Yee-hah and hallelujah. Taxpayers aren't going to get sacked with the $22,000 bill for the tainted and inaccurate Murman report and the tens of thousands being spent right now on the Nuessegate civil service hearings.
