SANDUSKY The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for Ottawa, Erie, Sandusky, Seneca and Huron counties. A watch means that conditions are ripe for a tornado to form. Residents should expect to see severe thunderstorms develop. There's a threat of damaging winds and tornadoes.

An 18-year-old EHOVE Career Center student inadvertently left behind a flash drive in a classroom computer. The flash drive contained nude or partially nude photos of a young woman, who was 17 or 18 at the time. A teacher working on the computers came across the images, Erie County Sheriff's Capt. Paul Sigsworth said.

They came out of nowhere. County emergency officials and weather experts say Tuesday's tornado outbreak blasted througheastern Sandusky County quickly and without warning. The first reports of tornado sightings rang into the Sandusky County Sheriff's office just before 5:40 p.m.

He turned and rushed to the front window of the business at 1430 W. McPherson Highway in Clyde just in time to see a tornado looming over the Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union.

PORT CLINTON James Jacobs, 52, ended his trial and pleaded guilty this afternoon to four counts of rape and one count of tampering with evidence. Jacobs sexually abused and repeatedly raped an 11-year-old girl. He also hid evidence of the rapes after investigators started looking into the years-long abuse.

A 16-year-old teenager was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after a van struck him in front of a house in the 14000 block of Darrow Road. The driver of the van, Gary V. Fitzpatrick, 21, 2610 West Erie Ave., Lorain, fled the scene shortly after hitting the teen but was later caught.

Jury selection took up the first day of the Rodvold murder trial and is expected to continue today. Steven Rodvold, 26, of Clarksfield Township is accused of the September murder of his 51-year-old father, Keith, with six shots from a .357-caliber revolver on the back porch of his home. He has said he did it in self-defense with his father only steps away from a gun.

Although nationally the United States added 290,000 jobs in April, and has added jobs four straight months, the improvement hasn't trickled down to Sandusky.

The fianceé of a Wakeman man who was arrested after holding police at bay for two hours said he was afraid and never threatened to hurt her. Jacquie Hale said she and her fiancé, Gerald Hunter, stepped out onto the porch of their home Monday to go to a friend's place so Hunter could target-shoot. That's when they saw police and ducked back into their home.
