This letter is in response to the opinion piece written by Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray the Register published May 5. As a life-long Ohioan and a lakefront owner, I would like to see Ohio Attorney General focus on understanding the existing laws of Ohio that protect property rights for all Ohioans.

A Willard man accused of starting a fire in a Willard High School bathroom has been formally charged with aggravated arson and vandalism. Brandon Lewis, 18, 500 block W. Emerald St., faces as many as eight years in prison after officials say they caught him on camera setting fire to a towel dispenser and the contents of a wastebasket.

The Erie County Health Department will ask voters to renew a 0.5-mill operating levy in November. The levy generates about $1 million a year for the health department, accounting for roughly 15 percent of its $6.5 million operating budget. The owner of a $100,000 home pays about $13.74 a year for the levy.

A 34-year-old Huron man is in hot water after allegedly driving drunk in Faben Park with his 8-year-old niece in the car. Heath Tittle, 500 block Wilbur Ave., Huron, was charged with endangering children, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
