Fremont area residents are working to provide financial assistance to Jared Marker, who was badly burned when his home caught fire this week.

According to the Sandusky Live new blog, a Jared Marker benefit fund has been set up at Croghan Colonial Bank to help with medical bills. Marker and his family lost everything in a fire early Tuesday morning.

The Depot restaurant in Fremont is hosting a fundraiser Sunday.

One thing to say is that the residents of Northwest Ohio are great.  We help people when they are in need no matter how big of the problem.  In fact just a couple years when the tornadoes hit Lake Township the residents of the surrounding area had the debris all cleared up even before the federal goverment could step in.  That is totally amazing.  It is also wonderful that you can always count on local businesses to step up and have fundraisers for anybody in need.  One thing I know for sure is that I am proud to live in Northwest Ohio.

This is how a community SHOULD be.  How gracious and wonderful these people are to assist a neighbor.  They should be commended for their kindness.
