NORWALK

A Corwin Street resident's above-ground pool collapsed Saturday afternoon, flooding the man's yard and damaging nearby property.

Michael Hoffman told Norwalk police he discovered the damaged after checking on a loud noise, which sounded like a car crash.

The rivets on the pool's side wall may have rusted and buckled under the weight of the water, a Norwalk police report said. The force of the gushing water damaged a privacy fence at 31 Corwin Street and also moved a storage shed onto the sidewalks on Gray Street. There was no one in the pool when it collapsed, and no one was reported injured.

Sounds like the owner wasn't doing very regular inspections on it,  doesn't it take time for rivets to rust to that point?
