Jonathan D. Francis, 30, of Sandusky, passed away in Sandusky Bay while kayaking with his daughter.
He was born Aug. 17, 1982, in Shelby, Ohio. Jonathan attended Plymouth High School and was a former employee of Whirlpool in Clyde.
He was an avid outdoorsman. Jonathan especially enjoyed water sports, camping, working with his hands, playing guitar, folk and country music, creative writing, and especially enjoyed his family.
Jonathan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gwen (Humphreys) and Terry Gwinner, of Willard; and his father and stepmother, Douglas and Debbie Francis, of Willard. He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa and Michael Back of Greenwich, Aaron D. Francis and Lisa Haun of Ontario, Ohio, Ryan O. Francis, of Ashland, Kristin Humphreys, of Shelby, and Andrew Gwinner, of Shelby; his nieces and nephews, McKallah Back, Devin Back, Ethan Francis, Avaia Francis and Liberty Francis; and many cousins.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his daughter, Viola E. Francis.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Earl Sexton will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
