Wade D. Whetsel, 40, of Mansfield, Ohio, and formerly of Castalia, died Saturday morning, Dec. 6, 2008, at his residence.
He was bornSept. 6, 1968, in Sandusky, and was a 1987 graduate of Margaretta High School.
He received his B.S. degree in industrial engineering from the Universityof Toledo in 1997. He wasemployed by General Motors for seven years in Defiance, Ohio, and for the past six years in Mansfield. He was a four-year U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Desert Shield/Storm, where he was a member of the 340th Air Refueling Wing.
Wade is survived by his wife, Stephanie; three daughters, Kaitlin, Victoria and Emily Whetsel, all at home; his mother, Beverly Whetsel of Sandusky; two sisters, Christina Whetsel of Gardena, Calif., and Stephanie Whetsel of Sandusky; paternal grandmother, Margaret Whetsel of Castalia; mother-in-law, Caroline Rowe of Sandusky; father-in-law, Dennis Rowe of Sandusky; two sisters-in-law, Shannon Dean of Sandusky and Amanda Dean of Fremont; and aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Whetsel in 2003; paternal grandfather, Herbert (Hank) Whetsel; maternal grandparents, Howard and Hazel Moran; paternal aunt, Patricia Bickley; paternal uncle, Larry Fredrick; and maternal uncle, Rodger Moran.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in FirstChristian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor DonSpurlock officiating. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery, with military services conducted by Sandusky American Legion Post 83.
