Jesse Jackson rallies with Ohio's unions
Feb 23
2011
The Rev. Jesse Jackson said workers shouldn't be the "scapegoat" for the nation's economic woes as he joined a few hundred people at a union hall in Ohio amid debate over a bill that would abolish collective bargaining rights for state workers.
Chants of "collective bargaining, not collective begging" and Jackson's trademark "keep hope alive" were heard at the Teamsters downtown Columbus hall on Wednesday, and some held signs reading "stop the war on workers." On Tuesday, Jackson had joined protesters at the Statehouse, where a Senate committee reviewed the bill.
He says what's happening to workers stands in comparison to the "bailout" of billionaire bankers.
Says Jackson: "We've got to feed the roots, not just the leaves. Workers must not be the scapegoat for a rather profound economic crisis."

@ buckeye15:
The subject is that poverty pimp Rev. Jackson and you want it "classy"? LOL
There was an instance in Barrington, IL where he literally pushed someone out of the way to get to a camera.
Never, ever get between a camera and the Rev.
Remember when he paid off his mistress with Rainbow Push money? How classy is that?

Repubs continue to amaze me. They have no problems with wasting billions on needless wars, billions given to foreign dictators, giving ultra rich further tax breaks, but the thought of a fellow American making an honest living drives them crazy. I would be happy for my neighbor/ fellow citizen to make a good living. I dont mind paying taxes for police, fireman, nurses etc.., they save lives, i think they deserve it. Funny who calls who selfish, eh?

Unbelieveable and selfish protests!! I totally agree with you ottonut44! People need to get back to their jobs. There are MANY that would love to do it for them for a partial of their "required" pay, and would probably work harder. Unions are no good. I can personally say I have been on both sides, they are NO GOOD. Wake up to the real world, you should be thankful to have a job, to have some benefits, sick days, and so on. Unions have gotten out of control, and something should be done.I pray that we don't become like "others" around the world.

Since when did Jesse Jackson reside in OHIO ??? Go back to Chicago were you belong. This is not an issue to be resolved by anyone but Ohioians. Ohioians elected a new governor and changed the landscape in Columbus because they wanted a fiscally responsible government. Thats what we voted for and thats what we want.

Video Of Burning Greek Policeman As Class Warfare Escalates - Protesters Scream "Don't Obey The Rich—Fight Back"
"Youths wearing hoods ski masks hurled rocks and fire bombs at riot police as clashes broke out Wednesday in Athens during a mass rally against austerity measures, part of a general strike that crippled services and public transportation around the country. Police fired tear gas and flash grenades at protesters, blanketing parts of the city center in choking smoke. Thousands of peaceful demonstrators ran to side streets to take cover. A police officer was attacked and his uniform caught fire in the city's main Syntagma Square, before he was rescued by colleagues. His motorcycle was burned. More than 30,000 protesters had attended the Athens rally, which had been calm before the clashes. Protesters chanting "Don't obey the rich—Fight back!" marched to parliament as the city center was heavily policed. A brass band, tractors and cyclists joined the rally."

Jesse, get your ass in a car and drive from Cleveland down through the Mahoning Valley to Steubenville, there is your prosperity that the union and demcrats with high taxes have wrought. Go back to Chicago and back to sleep you wannabe has been never were. We've tried it your way for 80 years and where has it gotten us? Let's try something new, let the workers decide if they want to continue to line the union's and democrats pockets instead of helping themselves.
