Noah W. Holbrook, 86, of Clyde, passed away Thursday night, Jan.12, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 15, 1925, in Coeburn, Va., and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII and the Korean War. Noah retired in 1990 from New Departure Hyatt after 37 years, where he served as committeeman for UAW Local 913 for 30 of those years. He was the minister for the Church of God in Mansfield, Ohio, and Castalia for approximately six years.
Besides his family, he loved his beagles, hunting, fishing and growing crops on what seemed to be the 100 acre farm. Noah loved fellowship with people, i.e., the Brotherhood of UAW Local 913 and his brothers and sisters in the Lord. He never met a stranger and loved to kid around with everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Eula Mae (Jones) Holbrook; two daughters, Linda Pugh and Janice Holbrook, of Clyde; two sons, Darrell (Nancy) Holbrook, of Sandusky, and Randall Holbrook, of Clyde; eight grandchildren, Brian Holbrook, Amy (Paul) Bratton, Natalie Pugh, Noel Holbrook, Eric (Kelly) Protzman, Tony (Bethanie) Protzman, Amanda (Josh Richmond) Protzman and Casey Orshoski Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Austin Richmond, Emily and Allyson Protzman, Alyssa, Sarah and Ella Rae Protzman, Bryon Laughlin and Braydyn Cook and Anthony and Airiana Holbrook; brother, the Rev. Maynard (Phyllis) Holbrook, of Sandusky; sisters, Betty Brandon, of Bowie, Md., and Norma Franklin, of Johnson City, Tenn.; several loving and caring nieces; many friends; and a host of “wonderfully crazy” nephews.
Noah was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vicey (Burton) Holbrook; sister Wilma Babb; and brothers, Curtis (in wartime), Leslie “Boo,” Robert and Fred.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16. The Rev. Ron Legg will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Church of God, 9415 Portland Road, Castalia, OH 44824, and to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
