Local police respond every day to heated and unusual situations. The following is one item pulled from the daily police blotter. PERKINS TWP. POLICE MONDAY, MARCH 5 6:27 p.m. -5900 block Hayes Ave., somebody called 911 but didn't answer, dispatcher heard TV in back ground, man told police his 4-year-old daughter learned to dial 911 about a week ago in preschool. This can happen with little ones.  I think they learn it in school and hear it so much, the little ones want to KNOW if it really works, see it for themselves.

Oh, yes.  I think they want to know what or WHO will pick up on the other side of 9-1-1 and just what they will say.  I remember the first time my granddaughter heard about it.  We practiced with her little telephone set.  I pretended to be the 911 operator in one room while she called from the other.  That worked fairly well.  We had one of those little wired sets from one room to another.  She wasn't allowed to use the "big phone".  But she got hold of her mommy and daddy's cell phone shortly after.  OOPS.  She asked to speak to Grandma.  LOL.
