One of the points of pride that Sandusky residents have for their city is the system of parks, serving all parts of the community. This park system began with the founding of the city in 1818.

This week on the Sandusky History blog, we meet one of the keepers of the Cedar Point Light, Frank Ritter.

Ritter served in the position from 1892 to 1929, and when he retired, his son-in-law took over.

This editorial is not meant to be an attack on any city commissioners. Rather it is a plea for effectiveness. 

Each of the seven ran for a commission seat for the same reason — because they thought they could make a difference.
