The bad economy is causing a lot of pain for people in the Sandusky area. My editors at the Sandusky Register are trying to help by organizing a series of town hall style meetings where people can obtain information and ask questions.
Everyone is welcome to attend these free public meetings, which are being hosted at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sandusky State Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Here is the schedule:
• March 31, The Home — Fighting foreclosures, negotiating mortgages, understanding taxes, What does the stimulus package mean for you?
• April 7, Your Finances — Money management tips, including budgeting, saving, retirement and pensions.
• April 14, Survival — How to get help when struggling for basic needs such as food, housing and utilities.
• April 21, Health Care Crunch — Health insurance, prescription drugs, clinics, negotiating bills and other health issues.
• April 28, Jobs & Well Being — Finding a job, retraining and dealing with the stress of being out of work.
• May 5, Your Credit & Safety — Credit scores, credit cards, consolidated credit groups, and how to avoid being a crime victim.
I know that my editors are working very hard to make these meetings worthwhile. (They were smart enough not to put me in charge.) If you think this effort is worthwhile, please consider printing out our flyer and posting it at your workplace, church, favorite coffee shop, etc. You can get it here.
