The month of October is flying by and we are down to the last two months of the FIT Challenge. I am pleased with my progress, but I still have a ways to go to make my goal.

This past month seems to be a month of ups and downs with my weight loss. I'm making progress, but still not where I would like to be.

I have found myself snacking more than I should and this will be a challenge for me going forward. I like many think that I will have a little of this or that and the next thing I know I am eating too much.

I am pleased with my willpower most of the time, but I still fail myself now and then. I am feeling much better now and know the benefits of dieting and exercise.

This past week, I was only able to work with Derek Nimrichter of Bodi N Balance once due to our schedules. I did work out through the week but not at the intensity that Derek pushes me. I have a ways to go in controlling my health and being in better shape but I am farther along than I ever thought I would be a year ago.

I can't emphasize enough the importance of getting started with changing your life with diet and exercise.  I will be going back to the doctor in November and can't wait to see the results of my blood work. I am hoping to reduce more of my medication and prove to myself that I can control my health without medication!

On Saturday, I re-roofed my small barn with the help of my brother, nephew and son-in-law. The day went well and the best thing for me was being able to move around and go up and down the ladder and scaffolding without a problem. I was tired, but at the end of the day I wasn't exhausted and it felt good to have the energy back.

Gary says " I am pleased with my progress, but I still have a ways to go to make my goal."   Gary, what really matters is that you are pleased with your progress. That means that you made a lot of progress. Your goal is to attain better health which you did. That is what really matters. This is a learning experience for you. Take this learning experience and carry it with you for the rest of your healthy life. Being healthy is a life long commitment. Enjoy the good tasting snacks from time to time.
