BLOG: Clark thanks trainers for 'paying it forward'

2010
Something significant happened this past week. Someone who is very near and dear to my heart called and asked me to help her lose weight. She is approximately 240 pounds overweight.
What is so amazing about this phone call is that this person has been overweight for a very long time and she's finally ready to make the commitment to change her life.
When I told T.J. Temper, my personal trainer at the Northern Ohio Medical Fitness Center, about this person, he was very happy to know she has made a commitment to change her body and her life.
I had to thank him for all he has done to help me toward reaching my weight-loss goal, as well as teaching me how to work out properly. I had to thank him for pushing me beyond my own perceived abilities. I had to thank him for refusing to accept any of my excuses.I had to thank him for refusing to allow me to complain. I had to thank him for refusing to accept any of my negativity.
What makes that phone call significant and amazing is now I have the knowledge and experience to be able to help her. I am certain she would not have had enough confidence in me to help her nine months ago. T.J. has given me the knowledge and the experience to be able to "pay it forward."
I don't know how many of you know this but, the trainers for the FIT competition, T.J. Temper, Kevin Gallagher, and Derek Nimrichter, volunteer their time. They receive no monetary gifts, rewards or wages for training myself, Annette or Gary.
T.J. told me "paying it forward" is one of the reasons he wanted to be a trainer for the FIT competition. He wanted to be able to take his knowledge and experience as a trainer, pass it onto others so they in turn can help others to reach their weight-loss goals toward a healthier life style.
Thank you T.J., thank you Kevin, thank you Derek, for helping Gary, Annette and myself to "pay it forward."

Dear Bodinbalance,
You are very welcome. I agree, one of the best ways to give back to the community is through service. Thanks for the invite or rather the heads up about the Trick or Teat and haunted house at Harbor Light Landing Plaza that BodiNBalance will be hosting. Unfortunatley I will not be able to attend, I have to work that evening from 3:45 to 9:15. :o( Sorry I will have to miss out. Will there be pictures? Do you have a Facebook? If so, please post them so I can check them out. I too would love to see all the costumes and the haunted house.

Thank you for saying those things about Derek and the other trainers. It can be hard to be positive all the time for everyone without getting alittle pat on the back now and again. I think that the best way to give back to the community is through service. Physically do something for someone everyday. WE are hosting a Kids Trick or Treat and haunted house at the Harbor Light Landing plaza on the 29th of Oct. This is for kids 12 and under and costs nothing. The event is for 2 hours and starts at 5pm as not to interfear too much with other engagments people have that weekend. Derek and the other trainers will be running the haunted house. This is extreemly kid friendly and I am looking forward to seeing all the costumes. Maybe we will see you there.
