No snow days for paper carriers

Thanks to a ferociously frigid winter, most local schools haven’t hosted a full week of classes since Christmas.

Some people might develop theories about where students have ventured to on their unparalleled number of snow days this year.

A sledding hill?

The Sandusky Mall?

The computer?

The television?

Well, I know where at least one kid in my neighborhood headed on Tuesday — to get an early start on his day job.

As I was scraping ice off my car around noon, my block’s paper carrier, a young boy, trudged across the snowy sidewalk to hand-deliver the Register to me.

He was bundled up in his winter garb with an adult by his side. Mail carriers, law enforcement and health care workers aren’t the only ones who brave the harsh winter weather to do their jobs.

Register readers, be sure to thank your paper carriers, too.
