I hope you read today’s On The Job as Santa’s elf.
The photo to the right shows the delightful costume I wore.
I put it on about 30 minutes early to give myself time to make adjustments to the costume, if needed, so it would fit properly.
I came back into the newsroom and sat down at my desk to get some more work done before I had to go to Jackson Street Pier for the parade.
No one noticed my costume.
Finally I said something to fellow reporter Andy Ouriel. “I have been sitting here in my elf costume and no one has said anything,” I said. “Melissa, it’s just not that weird,” he said.

Practice safe shopping this season
I don’t mind writing about Black Friday, interviewing shoppers and all the excitement going with it. But don’t expect me to be out with all the fanatic shoppers.
I never understood the fad with buying gifts on Black Friday.
Why not wait until a week from now?
There’ll still be sales and you won’t have to go all WWE with other shoppers to get what you want.
Anyway, don’t get into too much trouble shopping this holiday season — we don’t want to have to put your name in the blotter.
