Girls are smarter

Dec 5, 2013

Junior High students — girls — flocked to the BGSU Firelands College campus earlier this month for its “Women in STEM” conference. It's the fifth year the college has provided the workshops targeting female students for careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Girls from Danbury, Perkins, Sandusky, Sandusky Central Catholic and St. Peter schools attended the BGSU conference, which had four parts: animal science, epidemiology, forensic science and software development.

BGSU Firelands College brings good things to our table every day. We're glad college officials get it about encouraging females to embrace their innate intelligence and pursue their dreams. That's what college is all about, after all.

After all, when it comes right down to it most might agree: Girls are smarter than boys.

Overheard from 2 six year old boys - "Girls go to Jupiter to get more stupider; boys go to Mars to get more candy bars."

This is a stupidly sexist editorial. Let's see if the comments top it.

We all know that girls are smarter. Always have been.

Does it matter? Not really. Though examine members of the triple 9 society or the Prometheus Society....unnn.

Mensa is man-heavy, too. But did you ever think that smart women (in general) might not enjoy that kind of a geek fest as much as smart men (in general) do?

And don't anybody make any nasty comments about what I just said about geek fests. I might have been known to attend a Star Trek convention or two in my time. :-)
