Police leaders four aces

Excerpt: One trusted source described Sandusky police Chief John Orzech as a standup guy, a man who says what he means and does what he says.  There can hardly be a higher compliment. This sentiment seems to run through the community. Orzech has worked in the city for 16 years, he knows the community, he's seen the best and worst of the city. And still he wanted to be chief. He's well aware the job isn't easy and he has proven he's up for the challenge.

A look at the front page photo of his swearing-in ceremony in last Wednesday's paper tells a story. A good-sized crowd gave the chief a standing ovation. Congratulations to Chief Orzech. May your new position live up to your expectations and may you live up to city residents' expectations.

With Huron Chief Bob Lippert, Perkins Twp. Chief Ken Klamar, Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth and Chief John Orzech, the community has a winning hand — Four Aces.

One thing I have heard about Chief Orzech is that he is "fair". Whether he likes you or not, EVERYONE is treated the same. There aren't two sets of rules. I think he will make a terrific Chief, and I wish him the best of luck!

I think the problems with the SPD for a looooong time was too many chiefs and not enough Indians. The chief wasn't running the show ---- the prosecutor's office and the sheriff's department was. Only time will tell what happens now.

The Register says this now, but the first time he will not hand off some document that is needed in a current investigation they will throw him under the bus.

I for one am giving this guy a fair chance...its not often to see so many people stand behind someone these days in the local community. Whats important to me is that he keeps his oath to the Constitution as promised. A man is only as good as his word. Wish him well cause he definitely has his work cut out for him.

Me saying this is like "The Fonz" saying he was wrr--wrr--wrong. But you hit it right on with that editorial. Why the big switch to pro LE is all I ask.

We will see if he can take a hard stand with his fellow officers and the union when they screw-up.Remember your here to serve the community not just your pals in the Dept.Good luck and much success to you and the Dept.

I believe Chief Orzech is a honest and decent man. All of my interactions with Chief have been outside of his profession.

I am a proponent of city workers living within the city limits from where they receive their paychecks. Especially the police force. They take a oath to serve and protect . It just makes my wonder why the police flee the city after their shift. Doesn't instill much confidence.

donutshopguy, I agree with you but remember we have two county commissioners who wants to move the entire police department to Perkins Township.
