How great to see the Sandusky community enjoying “Elvis in the Park” (Sandusky Register, Aug. 8).
What a wonderful way to spend a less busy Thursday evening — in the beautiful Washington Park of downtown Sandusky. It is truly a showplace.
The Sandusky area is lucky longtime local resident Jim Mazza and his wife have taken the initiative to approach the pertinent city officials to bring a weekly get-together there.
Jim Mazza has often exerted extra effort to bring entertainment in various venues to the area. Music has been in his blood ever since owning Sandusky landmark “The Barn” in the ’70s. Thank goodness he has leaped hurdles to bring this extra-special opportunity to area residents.
Let’s all show Jim how very much we appreciate his and the local officials’ efforts.
There are a few more Thursday evenings on his docket — 6 p.m. at Washington Park gazebo. Bring your chair and some personal thanks to Jim and his wife for spinning the oldies for us.
There are not always entertainers performing. After all, Jim is a disc jockey and the fun evening is free of charge to the public — but probably not to Jim.
