Today is Wednesday and if you didn't see my column in Sunday's Register, here it is...
Three years ago we started a project. I pitched the idea of spending a day in our small-town communities and photograph whatever we could in one Wednesday. Doing a “Day in the Life” of a small town isn’t a new idea by any means, but it was new to the people who photographers Abigail Bobrow, Luke Wark, Meredith Bruner, Andrew List, Kristin Heinichen and I met during our visits to more than a dozen communities in 2007, 2008 and this year.
Where did we go? Well, here’s a list...
April 2007- Vickery (Abigail Bobrow)
May 2007-Berlin Heights (Luke Wark)
June 2007- Marblehead (Jason Werling)
July 2007- Bay View (Abigail Bobrow)
August 2007- Milan (Jason Werling)
September 2007- Whites Landing (Abigail Bobrow)
April 2008- Castalia (Luke Wark)
May 2008- Wakeman (Meredith Bruner)
June 2008- Flat Rock (Andrew List)
July 2008- Kelleys Island (Jason Werling)
August 2008- Oak Harbor (Luke Wark)
April 2009- Vickery (Abigail Bobrow)
May 2009- Monroeville (Luke Wark)
June 2009- Put-In-Bay (Kristin Heinichen)
July 2009- Green Springs (Jason Werling
August 2009- Lakeside (Kristin Heinichen)
And September 2009?
I am asking all of you to help me with Sandusky: the only city we are planning to tackle with this series. And what better day to do so than Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Or for you number geeks out there like me...09-09-09.
I am asking every school, business and organization, but more importantly any member of the public within the city limits, to take a photo or two this Wednesday and send it to me.
I know the “city limits” thing is going to be a sore spot for some, but I had to limit it somewhere, and with our former One Wednesdays we never left the town’s limits. (Although it was a little tough in 2007 to distinguish the Marblehead/Danbury lines.)
So today, September 9, 2009, capture a moment with your camera, film or digital, and send it to us. You can take as many photos as you want, but please only send one or two images along with some information of what is going on in the photo and who took the photo.
You can e-mail (preferred method) your images to email@example.com or mail them to One Wednesday Sandusky, attn: Jason Werling, 314 W. Market St., Sandusky, OH, 44870 or just drop them off at the front desk of the Register.
Photographers Luke Wark, Angie Wilhelm and I will be out all day and night documenting 09-09-09 in Sandusky. Please join us and contact me with any questions or suggestions of what we should try to cover for One Wednesday in Sandusky.
I would also like to thank all of our past communities for being so welcoming to our little project. Our photographers took a little of each town with us and we hope we left a little of our selves with all of you.
You can also check out our past One Wednesdays here.
We will be updating that site with our 2009 communities, so stay tuned.
