We are a little over a week away before we head eastbound and down on U.S. 6.

The boys are getting excited, so excited that my oldest son Will is already asking me about what are we going to do next year. Patience Will, let's just get through this trip first.

We were going to try to stretch our second day of the trip from the Ohio/Pennsylvania line in Linesville all the way to Scranton in one day. But after a bit of research and a couple calls we will be spending our second night in Towanda, PA at the Bradford B&B Inn. Our third day will take us from Towanda to the state of New York when we stay at the Bear Mountain Inn, the friendly folks there have agreed to be a sponsor of our road trip. Please check out what the historic hotel in Highland Falls have to offer and we will bring you more from there in just under two weeks. We will be traveling through Scranton just before our stay there and Ginny Cordier, a former Huron resident who now lives in the Scranton area.

She writes... I'd like to share 2 great attractions we have here in Scranton which highlight our history.  Also, I figure the boys may really enjoy these because one involves trains and the other involved young boys that were the ages your boys are now.  Both can be toured in one day (~ 3 miles apart) or on either side of an overnight stay.

Thanks Ginny and if anyone else has some tips or historic places you think we should stop along the way, please e-mail or call me. Just remember, the locations have to be either on or a very short distance from U.S. 6 since that is the route of our journey.

(Note: We will be selling popcorn to support the United Way at the Red Wagon on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. if you want to stop down and talk about your U.S. 6 experiences)
