Classical music fans will want to know that a well-regarded musical group is performing a concert in Elyria on Sunday. And it’s hard to argue with the price — free.

CityMusic Cleveland will present a chamber music concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elyria First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St. If you want a good seat, it’s a good idea to get there a little early.

The program will consist of Franz Schubert’s String Quartet in C Major, D. 956, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet in Eb Major, Op. 20.

IMO, most people-on-the-street if asked, would say that 60s R&R was 'classical' music.

Truth-be-told, Mozart and the rolled over Beethoven were writing the pop tunes of their day.

Can you imagine that in some distant future Hip Hop will be categorized as 'classical?'

I recently ‘discovered’ a group called Fleet Foxes.

Nice harmonies and they sounded to me like a combo of early Yes with a touch of Moody Blues.

Amazon described them in part as ‘… a group trafficking in baroque harmonic pop.’
