Rover Park? Fido Field? Dogged search for name continues

Construction of the Erie MetroParks Dog Park at Osborn Park has begun. The park is set to open this fall, but the Friends of Erie MetroParks Dog Park Committee are hounding the public to fix a remaining problem.

The park needs a name.

To find one, the committee has launched a "Name the Dog Park Contest." The winner submitting the best name will achieve fame among local dog lovers, along with a $25 gift certificate to Gallagher's Central Feed and a one-year registration to bring your pet to the dog park. Information, including your contest entry form, is here.

One more thing -- if you work for Erie MetroParks or serve on the Dog Park Committee, well, sorry! You are not eligible to enter. Contest entries are due June 1.

Tom, Your talents are wasted on stories such as these. SR is not using you to your utmost potential.

I hope you are sticking around because you know that Matt's days are numbered as editor.

From what I understand, there is no longer a dog park committee persay. The new Director of the MetroParks and the Friends of the MetroParks are now in charge of getting this dog park established and built. I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the "original" members of the dog park committee that worked so hard, for so many years to help get this project off the ground. You are all to be commended for your dedication and hard work! Your dream of a Dog Park for Erie County is soon to be a reality! It could not have been done without you all. Again THANK YOU.
