Let's see. Judging from what's getting the most coverage, the most important news in the U.S. is that a you-know-what in Congress Tweeted a picture of his you-know-what, and Sarah Palin's account of Paul Revere's famous ride may not be strictly accurate. Oh, and there's big news in Ohio, too -- some guy left the football team at OSU.
Here a couple of apparently unimportant things you may have missed:
(1) The U.S. economy actually is getting worse, at least in terms of employment. The unemployment rate has gone up for two months in a row — from 8.8 percent in March, to 9.0 percent in April and then 9.1 percent in May. People who have given up looking for work aren't counted in these numbers, because they are considered no longer in the workforce. People who took a crummy, low-paying job because they can't find a good one also don't figure in the raw numbers.
(2) President Obama's war in Libya apparently is illegal. Or so says lawyer and author Glenn Greenwald.

@Bess:
Like you, is not Mr. Brown a big proponent of central planning, ergo - a socialist?
You're entitled to bask in the comfort of your illusions.
However, trust me sweetheart, when previously tested academically, my reading comprehension ability was in the ninety-percentile range.
I also hold a BA with a Political Science major and a History minor - lotsa reading and comprehension.
In light of current popular U.S. political thinking, the term “liberal” is merely a euphemism for socialist. At least in Europe they tend to be honest about it.
6079.
I have no illusion about your reading comprehension for you don’t comprehend any of the facts or opinions that run counter to yours on this blog. Therefore, I base my statement on the observations made here, on this blog. As for your “credentials” I can say that I’m a Rhode Scholar it doesn’t make it so.

It's obvious that you're not a "Rhodes" Scholar.

I'm more than open to informative and knowledgeable arguments contrary to my educated opinions and experience; I just haven't read any from you or your cadre of fellow socialists.

I rest my case. You just proved my point.
That's the problem with liberals, they are the intelligencia of the new castrati. They feel it is their right and destiny to rule the uneducated masses. It is their birthright to rule! We just don't know all the nuances of socialism. The vast majority of college professors and educators are liberals who delight in turning young minds into mush!
The percentage of the administration with private sector experience is tragically low, somewhere around the 10% range...and wants to "transform" our society.
The bottom line is that when it comes to where we stand today is that our economy and national bank accounts are fiscal basket cases and that this administration is in way over its head in leading us out.
It takes an administration with proven leaders that have sound business and financial backgrounds to run a ship like our country successfully...and don't start the whining about "it's Bush's fault" as the last two years of his second term were shared with a Democratic-controlled Congress.
Bess, again...your views seem to be along side of this...and you're proud of it?
Bess writes:
"You just proved my point." Say wa? You had a "point" contained somewhere in that emotionally laden mess of sophistry that you wrong-headedly believe passes for intelligent and thought provoking dialog? Do tell. You're outclassed and outgunned. Stay in the shallow end of the mental pool where you properly belong. BTW: The Rhodes Scholarship is named for Cecil Rhodes who was a British imperialist and capitalist - you wouldn't have liked him.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_Rhodes
"In Corporate America We Trust". Move over God, you are about to written out. Sunday services will now be at the Corporations. Oh, wait a minute, Walmart already does this.
Brutus, I suggest you give up the arches and apply at Chik-Fil-A, as they stay closed on Sundays. The nearest one is in North Olmsted...oops, I imagine that is too much for you to spend on gas to get there. If only we had less regulations in drilling for oil, then Brutus could have his dream job.
Hate to be the one to break this to you bs you dumbss A but your liberal court rulings are doing it and not corporations as you say.
I bet you really love and are a member of the ACLU, ACORN, and all the other socialist groups out there.
Just keep saying it is the Republicans fault and sooner or later you might actually believe it.

What's wrong tax consumer, your Lord and Master, the All Mighty Obie the Great, vulnerable at the next election?
Tsk Tsk Tsk. I feel sorry for you. But you should have seen this coming. The guy is about as useful as %$#$ on a boar and has wrecked this country for decades to come
Maybe you should unhook the flue on the water heater in your basement, and just hug a picture of him while the fumes slowly take over
It's the right thing for you tew dew!
Pretty much ever since this Congressman Weiner nonsense started, I often recall this old cartoon from National Lampoon that pictured a hot dog reading his junk mail.
I can't find the original, but this is similar:
Who knew that it would have relevancy decades later? :)
I pray that someday that Winston would realize that he sounds like a complete moron when he acts like his BA Degree from the prestigious Harvard of the midwest (Bowling Green State University) means anything. Seriously Winston I know that a number of people on these blogs have advanced degrees from far better schools than you do. The only thing you prove is that your arrogance surpasses your ignorance. Clearly you have a sin problem "cupcake" . Clearly, you are not the sharpest crayon in the box (even in the mini box of 8).
I bet that is not the only picture of Weiners that Winston has!

Don'tcha love how these eastern ivy league educated geniuses with the great "credentials" that have been running this country into the ground for decades come up with such brilliant ideas as the supposed solutions to the problems that they originally helped to create?
Square that circle for me once again Mr. Obama!
Are you threatening me?
